Application effect of traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention guided by comprehensive evaluation in elderly patients with COPD
Objective To analyze the effects of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)nursing intervention guided by comprehensive elevation on frailty status, quality of life, lung function and nutritional status in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases(COPD),aiming to improve the debilitating states of elderly patients with COPD,enhance their quality of life and functional independence, and provide a basis for optimizing the management and care of elderly patients with COPD.Methods A total of 180 COPD patients admitted to the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Qidong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2021 to March 2023,who met the research criteria, were selected as research subjects.According to the principle of comparability of baseline data between groups, the patients were divided into a control group and an observation group, with 90 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing intervention, and the observation group received traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention under the guidance of comprehensive geriatric assessment. The debilitating status, lung function level[ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second in forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC),percentage of forced expiratory volume in one second in predicted value(FEV1%)],nutritional status[total protein(TP),albumin(ALB)levels and NRS-2002 scores]and quality of life[COPD Assessment Test(CAT)scores]of the two groups were compared. Results Before the intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in debilitating status grading,TP levels,ALB levels,NRS-2002 scores,FEV1/FVC levels,FEV1%levels and CAT scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the debilitating status of the observation group was lighter than that of the control group(P<0.05),the TP and ALB levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the NRS-2002 score was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),the FEV1/FVC and FEV1%levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),the CAT score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, the differences of the above indexes between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention strategy under the guidance of comprehensive geriatric assessment can further improve the nutritional level and lung function of patients, ultimately improve the debilitating status of patients, and reduce the impact of COPD on the quality of life.
