Effect of intensive psychological nursing on patients undergoing repeat assisted reproductive technology treatments
Objective To explore the effects of intensive psychological nursing intervention on negative emotions, sleep quality and quality of life in infertility patients undergoing repeat assisted reproductive technology treatments. Methods A total of 120 infertility patients undergoing repeat assisted reproductive technology treatments at the hospital from March 2021 to March 2022 were selected. They were divided into an observation group and a control group, each comprising 60 cases, based on the principle of matching basic data between groups. The control group implemented routine nursing care during the treatment period, while the observation group implemented intensive psychological nursing on the basis of the control group. The differences between the two groups of patients were compared in terms of the negative emotions, sleep quality, quality of life, scores of hope level, outcomes of assisted reproductive technology treatments and satisfaction with nursing care. Results Before the intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)between the two groups(P>0.05).After the intervention, the HAMA and HAMD scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before the intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in sleep onset latency and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After the intervention, the sleep onset latency and PSQI scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before the intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in scores of World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale(WHO-QOL)and Hope Level Scale(Herth)between the two groups(P>0.05).After the intervention, the WHO-QOL and Herth scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The pregnancy rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);there was no statistically significant difference in the average number of high-quality embryos between the two groups(P>0.05).The nursing satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The implementation of intensive psychological nursing for infertility patients undergoing repeat assisted reproductive technology treatments can address negative emotions, subsequently improving sleep quality, quality of life, and hope levels, ultimately aiding in successful pregnancy.
