Observation of the effect of case teaching method based on Omaha system in clinical training of nursing students
Objective To explore the application effect of real case teaching based on the Omaha system in cultivating clinical comprehensive abilities of nursing students. Methods A total of 108 nursing students who interned in the rheumatology and immunology department of the hospital from July 2021 to December 2022 were selected as research subjects.Among them,54 students who interned in odd-numbered months were designated as the observation group, while 54 students who interned in even-numbered months were designated as the control group. The control group received traditional clinical nursing teaching methods, while the observation group received real case teaching based on the Omaha system in addition to routine teaching. After the training, the nursing students were assessed for their clinical comprehensive abilities, theoretical and overall nursing skills, and their satisfaction with the teaching quality was also evaluated. Results Before the training, there was no statistically significant difference in clinical comprehensive abilities between the two groups(P>0.05).After the training, the each dimension scores of clinical comprehensive abilities in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);the theoretical scores and the scores in the four dimensions of overall nursing skills for the nursing students in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);the nursing students in the observation group had a higher level of satisfaction with the teaching effects compared to the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The case teaching method based on the Omaha system can improve nursing students'clinical comprehensive abilities, theoretical scores during their internship, and overall nursing skills,as well as improve their satisfaction with the teaching quality.
