Application of student-centred and outcome-based educational philosophy in the training of elderly nursing personnel
Objective To explore the application effect of the concept of student-centred and outcome based education(OBE)in the training of elderly nursing personnel.Methods From January to December 2022,60 specialised nursing students of Yunnan Foreign Affairs and Foreign Language Vocational College of the class of 2022 were selected as the research subjects,they were divided into an observation group and a control group according to the principle that the basic characteristics between the groups were comparable,with 30 cases in each group.The control group take the traditional face-to-face teacher presentation(PPT)to train the specialist nursing students,the observation group set up a project management team based on the control group to implement the standardised training of elderly nursing talents based on the OBE concept,which was divided into two sections,the public theoretical courses and group practical training,with a total of 35 teaching hours.At the end of the training,the training effect of the two groups were compared,the core competency scores of elderly nursing before and after the training,and the satisfaction of the specialist nursing students with the training.Results The scores of nursing students'elderly nursing-related knowledge and elderly nursing-related skills at the end of training in the observation group were 82.56±3.26 points and 80.58±2.78 points,higher than those of the control group,which were 71.55±3.98 points and 72.69±3.50 points,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before training,the total score of nursing students'core competence in elderly nursing in the two groups was 48.01±4.02 points and 48.36±3.69 points,there were on statistically significant difference(P>0.05).After training,the total score of nursing students'core competence in elderly nursing in the observation group was 78.21±5.89 points,which was higher than that of the control group's 57.18±4.78 points,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The total score of the observation group's specialist nursing students'satisfaction after training was 85.83±4.26 points,which was higher than the control group's 71.69±3.98 points,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The OBE concept-based elderly nursing training could improve the learning effect and learning satisfaction of specialised nursing students,and contribute to the cultivation of core nursing skills of specialised nursing students.
