Application effect of virtual simulation experimental teaching in introduction to nursing course for undergraduate students
Objective To discuss the application of virtual simulation experimental teaching in introduction to nursing course for undergraduate students.Methods Undergraduate nursing students from the class of 2022 and the class of 2023 at our university were selected as the research subjects.The entire classes were divided into groups,with 40 students from the class of 2022 as the control group and 41 students from the class of 2023 as the observation group.The control group was taught using traditional teaching method,while the observation group used a virtual simulation experimental teaching method in addition to the traditional teaching method.After the course,the assessment scores of the two groups of nursing students were compared.The Self-directed Learning Ability Scale was used to evaluate the nursing students'self-directed learning ability,the College Students'Learning Strategies Scale was used to evaluate their learning strategies,the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory was used to evaluate their critical thinking abilities,and the teaching effectiveness questionnaire was used to evaluate their agreement rate with the teaching.Results The post-class test scores and final theoretical assessment scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).After the teaching,the observation group had higher scores in learning motivation,planning and implementation,self-management,and total scale scores compared to the control group(P<0.05);the observation group had higher scores in cognitive strategies,resource management strategies,and total scale scores compared to the control group(P<0.05);the observation group also had higher scores in truth-seeking,analytical abilities,systematic abilities,and total scale scores compared to the control group(P<0.05).The teaching agreement rate of the observation group on learning attitude,knowledge acquisition,and the classroom teaching process was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of virtual simulation experimental teaching in the introduction to nursing course for undergraduate nursing students can enhance the teaching effectiveness and students'self-directed learning ability of nursing students.It also helps cultivate nursing students'learning strategies and critical thinking ability.Nursing students have a high level of acceptance of this teaching mode.
