Analysis of the current status and influencing factors of psychosocial adaptation in breast cancer patients
Objective This study aimed to investigate the current status and influencing factors of psychosocial adaptation in breast cancer patients after surgery. Methods A total of 273 breast cancer patients after surgery who underwent postoperative follow-up at a tertiary hospital in Ningxia from June 2021 to April 2022 were selected as survey subjects. The investigation was conducted using a General Demographic Questionnaire,a Psychosocial Adaptation Questionnaire for breast cancer patients, and a Breast Cancer Quality of Life Measurement Scale.A multiple linear regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of psychosocial adaptation in breast cancer patients after surgery. Results The psychosocial adaptation score for breast cancer patients after surgery was 125.00±21.00 points. The primary caregiver during hospitalization, the type of surgery being breast-conserving surgery, physiological condition dimension,social/family situation dimension, emotional condition dimension, and additional concerns dimension were influencing factors of psychosocial adaptation in breast cancer patients after surgery(P<0.05).Conclusion The psychosocial adaptation level in breast cancer patients after surgery is relatively low, indicating poor post-surgical adaptation to cancer. This is mainly related to the self-cognitive ability, body image disruption, emotional dysregulation, and social issues caused by the sudden onset of breast cancer. It is recommended to focus on interventions on aspects such as the patient's physiological dimension, social support systems, and couples'joint coping strategies to enhance the psychosocial adaptation level of the patients.
