Application effect of nursing intervention targeting patients'self-reported symptoms in patients undergoing radical mastectomy for breast cancer
Objective To explore the application effect of nursing intervention measures based on patients'self-reported symptoms in patients undergoing radical mastectomy for breast cancer. Methods A total of 92 patients who underwent radical mastectomy for breast cancer in the hospital from June 2021 to June 2022 were selected as study subjects.According to the principle of comparability of basic data, the patients were divided into an observation group and a control group, with 46 cases in each group. The control group received routine perioperative care, while the observation group received a nursing plan based on the patients'self-reported symptoms during the perioperative period. The incidence and duration of related symptoms were recorded for both groups, and the symptom severity scores and the improvement in quality of life were compared before and after the intervention in both groups. Results The incidence rates of postoperative pain, fatigue, anxiety, sleep disorder, and edema of the affected limb in the observation group were 13.04%,17.39%,10.87%,10.87%,and 8.69%,respectively,while those in the control group were 39.13%,56.52%,54.35%,47.83%,and 52.17%,respectively,and the differences between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).The duration of pain, sleep disorder, fatigue, limb edema, anxiety and other symptoms in the observation group were 2.02±0.32 d,2.63±0.38 d,2.22±0.42 d,2.85±1.21 d,and 2.63±0.63 d,respectively, while those in the control group were 4.92±0.42 d,4.89±0.86 d,4.33±0.86 d,4.52±0.85 d,and 5.02±0.85 d,respectively, and the differences in the duration of related symptoms between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the intervention, the total score of Function Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast(FACT-B)of the observation group was 120.49±6.97 points, while the total score of FACT-B of the control group was 98.30±5.78 points, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The nursing plan based on patients'self-reported symptoms can effectively reduce the incidence and duration of adverse postoperative symptoms in patients undergoing radical mastectomy for breast cancer. This approach contributes to the recovery of patients'functional status and improves their quality of life.
