China's Participation in Asian Regional Organizations:Evolution,Lessons and Suggestions for Future Development
The history of China's participation in Asian regional organizations can be divided into three sta-ges for being a participant,a builder and a positive contributor.China's achievements in participating in the Asian regional organizations are mainly reflected in advocating the establishment of the Shanghai Coop-eration Organization and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, creating a new model of regional govern-ance,promoting regional cooperation, facilitating the adjustment of cooperation patterns, and creating new international mechanisms.China's success mainly attributes to its adherence to open regionalism, the unity of its national interests and regional peaceful development, and the balance between regional peaceful de-velopment and global governance.Meanwhile,China's participation in Asian regional organizations reflects that China's competence to coordinate major powers and create new institutions is rather limited and needs to be further strengthened. Therefore,China should focus on promoting the construction of an Asian commu-nity with a shared future, further improving the Asian regional dispute settlement mechanism, and proposing multi-level solutions for the Asian regional governance.
