Trehalose,a natural disaccharide,exists widely in various forms in nature.Due to its unique roles in cell protection and stress tolerance,researches on trehalose and its potential applications have received increasing attention.This article sum-marized recent progress in the pharmacological effects of trehalose and its mechanisms of action to provide clues for clinical applications of trehalose.
