Effects of the incorporation of various amounts of Chinese milk vetch ( Astragalus sinicus L. ) and reducing chemi-cal fertilizer on soil fertility and rice yield
A field experiment was carried out to explore the appropriate usage of Chinese milk vetch combined with reduced 20% and 40% chemical fertilizer on soil fertility and rice yield in South Henan Province. The series of Chinese milk vetch application was 22. 5, 30, 37. 5, 45 t/hm2 , and 100% chemical fertilizer as the control. The results showed that the con-tents of alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen were increased by 14. 4% ~20. 9% and 13. 5% ~26. 5%, and the soil organic matter were increased by 4. 5% ~10. 8% and 4. 2% ~8. 2% under reduced 20% and 40% chemical fertilizer combined with Chinese milk vetch conditions compared with the control. The rice yield were increased firstly, and then decreased with the increasing amounts of Chinese milk vetch. The treatment with 30 t/hm2 of Chinese milk vetch had the highest rice yield which increased by 16. 7% ( P<0. 01 ) in comparison with the control under chemical fertilizer reduced 20% condition. The treatment with 37. 5 t/hm2 of Chinese milk vetch had the highest rice yield which increased by 15. 3% ( P<0. 01 ) under chemical fertilizer reduced 40% condition. The efficient panicles of rice were increased significantly by incorporating Chinese milk vetch, but the filled-grain number was decreased compared with the control.
