Comparison of Wang Yangming's Travels and Chronicles in Fujian Local Chronicles:On the Documentary and Fictitious Nature of Chinese Studies Materials in Local Chronicles
Wang Yangming visited Fujian twice and a half in his life.He traveled to Wuyi,fought in Tingzhang,stationed in Shanghang,and set a county in Pinghe.He was not only engaged in social governance and military activities in Fujian,but also implemented moral governance,preaching and teaching,and established cultural and educational institutions.He devoted himself to learning and educating the scholars of Fujian,and established an inseparable bond with Fujian.Therefore,a large number of Wang Yangming's travels,biographies,poetic works,and later scholars'information in Fujian were preserved in the local chronicles of Fujian.These materials differ to a certain extent from the Chronicles of Mr.Yangming,Atlas of Mr.Wang Yangming,and the writings of Yangming's later scholars,especially in the record of Wang Yangming's first journey in Fujian.By analyzing and verifying these differences,on the one hand,it can correct and implement the time and route of Wang Yangming's entry into Fujian,and on the other hand,by exploring the special mechanism of local chronicles in terms of biographical records,it can reveal the value and shortcomings of the coexistence of factual and fictional literary materials.
