A new book for the development of modern geography——New Explorations in Modern Geography:Perspectives from Science,Application,and Education by Professor Zhu Hejian
Professor Zhu Hejian,a famous expert in physical geography and natural resource science,has taught for more than 70 years.At the advanced age of 90,he continued to write and published the book"New Explorations in Modern Geography:Perspectives from Science,Application,and Education".The book not only permeates Zhu Hejian's deep understanding of the essence of geography from his 70 years of teaching experience in universities but also contains thorough thinking on teaching and educating students.The new theories and viewpoints proposed can profoundly affect the development of modern geography in China.The book takes the soil and water conservation work in Changting County as a case study,adhering to the mindset of"seeing the land,while perceiving the people",combining soil and water conservation efforts with the adjustment of rural economic structures.The strategies for ecological restoration were extracted,and solutions for technical bottlenecks,spatial limitations,and systemic barriers in regional soil and water conservation were promoted in this book.This has led to the long-term effectiveness of soil and water conservation measures in Changting County and the industrialization of soil and water conservation,forming a stable and healthy governance pattern.After reading this book,we can gain a deeper understanding of the new thinking in modern geography.
