"Feibai"is a common active rhetorical device in literary works.The study has found that there are two types of"feibai"rhetorical device in Journey to the West:"phonetic feibai"and"semantic feibai",which are used both individually and in combination,in addi-tion,there are some instances where"feibai"is used together with"parody".This device is primarily used to reflect the novel's themes,enrich the characters'images and moderate the narrative pace,and also has expressive effects of"humorous and playful","vernacular and worldly"and"philosophical".
