The article adopts methods of online investigation,literature review,and on-site interviews to investigate the status of the construction of ancient book databases in 32 provincial public libraries in China.It points out that there are problems such as low quality and duplicate construction of self-built ancient book databases,scattered and incomplete content of ancient book databases,and service functions need to be expanded of ancient book databases.The article proposes strategies for the construction of ancient book databases in public libraries,namely improving the overall performance of self-built ancient book databases,strengthening a sound content system of ancient book databases,and expanding the service functions of ancient book databases.
