The article reviews the development process and technical elements of ChatGPT,explores the operational architecture and characteristics of ChatGPT for smart subject services in university libraries,analyzes its application scenarios and challenges at the technical,ethical and organizational levels from six aspects:subject knowledge,subject literacy,subject consulting,subject resources,subject teaching and subject space,and proposes corresponding strategies,namely embracing the future and accelerating technological integration and innovation;ethical rectification and sound risk governance mechanisms;bidirectional empowerment,achieving human-machine collaborative symbiosis.
