The article analyzes the current situation of smart services for ancient books,points out its dilemmas such as scattered ancient book resources,difficulty in building knowledge bases,lack of compatibility,integration,openness and interactiveness in databases.It emphasizes that smart services for ancient books should progress and close integration with local socio-economic and cultural development.Taking the construction of the Liaoning ancient poetry and literature smart project as an example,this article elaborates on the understanding and thinking of smart services for library ancient books from four aspects:project concept,project process,functional modules and effect evaluation.
