Research on the Performance of Book-Centered City Construction Based on the"Path-Target"Theory
Based on the"path-target"theoretical framework, this paper takes 38 districts and counties in Chongqing as cases, and uses the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQCA)method to explore the linkage effect of leadership, residents and environment on the construction performance of scholarly cities. The results show that:(l)The single factor of leaders, residents and environment does not constitute the necessary conditions for high construction performance.(2)There are four driving paths for high-level construction performance:resident leading, environmental support, collaborative promotion and administrative mobilization.Resident factors play a universal role in the configuration of high-level construction performance.(3)The effective combination of all factors improves the construction performance in a way that leads to the same destination, and there are complementary effects under certain conditions. In short,multi-case study show that the construction of scholarly city is not"the only path",nor is it the privilage of developed cities.Underdeveloped areas can also succeed as long as they find the right direction and make precise efforts.
