Codex of the Rhyme Dictionaries During Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties
According to the different contents,the production technologies and the ways of spreading and reading,the ancient books can be divided into different"levels"(for instance,in the Dunhuang documents,Buddhist scriptures and the rhyme dictionaries belong to different levels).The different levels have the various bookbinding formats.There are many rhyme dictionaries in the Dunhuang documents,the Turpan documents and in the handed-down documents.There is a bookbinding format called codex in the level of"rhyme dictionaries during the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties",which developments reflect a special path of evolution from"rolls"to"codices".
