Validation of Bradford's Law and Source Journal Characteristics of Papers Mentioned by Twitter:Library and Information Science as Example
[Purpose/Significance]Investigating whether the papers mentioned by social media conform to Bradford's law is helpful to understand the distribution characteristics of papers in the social media environment,obtain the core information of media attention.[Design/Methodology]Using all the tweets related to the Library and Information Studies(LIS)in 2018-2022,this paper examines the validity of Bradford's law in the Twitter environment and its distributional characteristics through descriptive statistics,validation of Bradford's law,and feature analysis.[Findings/Conclusion]The results of the study show that in the field of LIS,the distribution of the sources of the papers mentioned by Twitter is consistent with Bradford's law of dispersion.Journals that are indexed by the JCR and have Twitter accounts are located in the core area in greater numbers.[Originality/Value]This study focuses on the applicability of traditional theories in social media contexts,and compares the characteristics of different partitioned source journals,which can provide references for discovering the key factors for becoming a core zone journal.
