Reading and Interpretation of the Article"Chen Zhonggong is the Chief of Taiqiu"in A New Account of the Tales of the World-Political Matters
From the perspective of the role of Chen Shi's family in the process of legal Confucianization,we an-alyze Chen Shi's action of ruling the people by giving up theft during his tenure as the chief of Taiqiu,which is a manifestation of legal Confucianization in the cases decided by individual officials,and the descendants of Chen Shi made great contributions to the process of legal Confucianism in the later generations.Liu Xiaobiao,a commentator,had already made a judgment on the case of Chen Shi,saying that"Jia Biao in the Later Han Dynasty had such a case,but he did not hear of Shi",while Yu Jiashi thought that Chen Shi and Jia Biao had such a case.The reason for this is that this anecdote fits the image of Chen Taiqiu as a loyal and filial son,and it is related to the selection criteria of the Shishuoxinyu(A New Account of the Tales of the World),not to mention the strength of Chen Shi's family.The Chen family developed from the"single micro"family and was famous for four generations before and after,especially for the Chen Shi-Chen Ji-Chen Qun-Chen Tai family,but Chen Tai had a grudge against Sima's group because of the death of Duke Gao Guixiang,and the family was not rich in talents after that.However,due to the death of Duke Gao Guixiang and the lack of tal-ents in the family,the development of the Yingchuan Chen Clan was interrupted.
