An Analysis of The Reasons For Malaysia's changing Attitude towards The Belt and Road Initiative
As one of China's most important foreign strategies so far,the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)has played a significant role in promoting economic and trade cooperation with neighboring countries and countries along the route,and in Malaysia it has entered its tenth year.During this decade,Malaysia has adjusted its strategy in response to the Belt and Road Initiative due to the change in government,but fundamentally Malay-sia still adheres to a pragmatic foreign policy in dealing with its economic relations with China.The change in Malaysia's attitude towards the Belt and Road is also due to a combination of domestic and international fac-tors,including leadership traits,domestic political elites,national interests,great power rivalry and multilat-eral organizations.With the coming to power of the Anwar government,he has expressed the great importance to the Belt and Road and the economic and trade cooperation between Malaysia and China.In the long term,this will see Anwar and his government making full use of the Belt and Road to promote and develop economic and trade relations with China and to reach a consensus on deeper cooperation on the Belt and Road.
