An Analysis of the Relationship among Sichan Temple,Fayun Temple and Qingyun Temple in Culai Mountain:The Naming of"Big Temple","Small Temple"and"Old Temple"
There are three ancient temples, namely Sichan temple,Fayun temple and Qingyun temple,con-centrated at the western foot of Culai Mountain. The local people refer to them as"Big temple","Small tem-ple"and"Old temple".After investigation and research by the author,it was found that there is a very close relationship between these three temples. The"Old temple"was actually the place where monks such as Fa-run,Fudeng,and others first came to Culai Mountain to build their own temple.Later, because all the monks moved to the newly built Sichan temple, this temple became the"Old temple".Due to the selection of the new site for the construction of the Sichan temple in the Jin dynasty, the old site was abandoned for a long time, and it was not until the Ming dynasty that the Fayun temple was built on top of its abandoned founda-tion.The two temples share the same roots and origin.Due to the smaller scale of the Fayun temple compared to the Sichan temple built during the Jin Dading period, people commonly refer to the Fayun temple as a"Small temple",while the Sichan temple are called"Big temple".
