Analysis of the mediating effect of hope level between benefit finding and caregiver burden in patients with liver cancer
Objective:To explore the mediating effect of hope level between primary caregiver benefit finding and caregiver burden in patients with liver cancer. Methods:The main caregivers of 305 patients with liver cancer in minimally invasive department of a Grade A cancer hospital in Shandong Province from April 2022 to November 2022 were selected as the research objects.General data questionnaire,Primary caregiver Hope Scale,Chinese version of Benefit Finding Rating Scale and caregiver Burden Scale were designed to investigate the general demographic data, benefit finding level, hope traits and caregiver burden of primary caregivers of liver cancer patients, and Pearson correlation analysis was conducted on the survey results.Meanwhile,Bootstrap test was performed to explore the mediating effect. Results:In 305 patients with liver cancer, the benefit finding score of primary caregivers was(79.76±8.16),the hope level score was(34.66±3.28),and the care burden score was(50.54±14.72).There was a negative correlation between caring burden and benefit finding and hope level by Pearson method(P<0.001).The mediation effect was studied with Bootstrap sampling test. The 95%confidence interval of benefit finding, hope level and caregiver burden pathway analysis did not include the number 0.Hope level of primary caregivers of liver cancer patients played a mediating role between benefit finding and caregiver burden. Conclusion:The caring burden of primary caregivers of patients with liver cancer is at a medium level, which is negatively correlated with benefit discovery and hope level.Hope level plays an intermediary role between benefit discovery and care burden of caregivers.Clinical medical staff should strengthen the psychological counseling and related knowledge education of primary caregivers,so as to improve their benefit discovery and hope level, thus reducing the care burden of caregivers.
