Research progress of quantitative MRI in lumbar intervertebral disc degeneration
Lumbar disc degeneration is accompanied by pathological changes, alterations in composition, and metabolic disorders.Conventional magnetic resonance sequences rely on the Pfirrmann grading system for evaluating lumbar disc degeneration. In recent years, emerging quantitative magnetic resonance technology has enabled more detailed grading of disc degeneration and enhanced understanding of its degree, therapeutic effect, metabolic characteristics, and the related factors. With the development of quantitative magnetic resonance imaging technology, several new imaging sequences have been gradually employed in studying lumbar disc degeneration to improve the comprehension of the degenerative process. This article reviews the progress in applying quantitative MRI technology to lumbar disc degeneration.
