Analysis of prostate-specific antigen screening results among health examination population in Lixia District of Jinan City
Objective:To understand the incidence of prostate cancer(PCa)among the physical examination population in Lixia District,Jinan City, and analyze the related influencing factors,to provide data support for the local prevention and treatment of PCa.Methods:This study involved 3 933 individuals who underwent physical examinations at the community health service station in Lixia District,Jinan City from March 2022 to December 2023.They participated in PCa screening based on serum prostate-specific antigen(PSA)detection.Patients with PSA levels≥4 ng/mL were recommended to seek medical attention and underwent prostate biopsy.Baseline data of research subjects were collected and the risk factors for PSA abnormalities and PCa incidence were analyzed. Results:Among 3 933 physical examination subjects,477(12.13%)had PSA abnormalities.54 individuals with abnormal PSA underwent prostate biopsy, with a willingness rate of 11.32%.26 people were diagnosed with PCa through biopsy, with an overall PCa detection rate of 0.66%.Advanced age(OR=2.563;95%CI:2.034-3.229,P<0.001)and a history of prostatitis(OR=2.217,95%CI:1.803-2.725,P<0.001)are risk factors for PSA abnormalities.Advanced age(OR=3.486,95%CI:1.250-9.722,P=0.017)and heavy smoking(OR=3.680,95%CI:1.189-11.394,P=0.024)are risk factors for PCa.Conclusion:The detection rate of PCa in the local population undergoing physical examination is relatively high.Abnormal PSA levels are related to age and history of prostatitis.Older age and excessive smoking may increase the risk of developing PCa.
