Status and influencing factors of parenting concerns in breast cancer patients with chemotherapy
Objective:This article is to evaluate breast cancer patients'parenting concerns during chemotherapy and identify factors for improved interventions.Methods:A total of 272 breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy from two tertiary hospitals in Jinan,Shandong Province were selected by convenience sampling and investigated with the general information questionnaire,the parenting concerns questionnaire(PCQ),the Chinese version perceived stress scale(CPSS),the parenting sense of competence scale(PSOCS),the family APGAR index questionnaire.Results:The parenting concern score of breast cancer patients with chemotherapy was 3.74±0.70.Marital status,number of minor children,the youngest child's age,disease stage,chemotherapy cycle,perceived stress,parenting sense of competence,and family care were significant predictors of these concerns(all P<0.05),accounting for 68.8%of the variance.Conclusion:Chemotherapy-treated breast cancer patients exhibit moderate to high parenting concerns,and medical staff should assess and create targeted interventions to boost their quality of life.
