The Study on the Homogeneity of KMT's and DPP's External Policy under the Situation of Political Party Polarization
Political divisions, partisan rivalries, and polarized politics with"blue-green"imprints are profoundly affecting the political ecology and public opinion in Taiwan. However, the fundamental opposition between the KMT and the DDP on the issue of unification and"independence"has no significant impact on the formation of a coherent"external policy consensus"between the two parties.Whether it is expanding the so-called"international space,"maintaining"diplomatic relations,"making military purchases from the U.S.,or connecting with Southeast Asia through the"southbound policy,"the continuity of the foreign policies of Taiwan's various authorities has been fully emphasized."Taiwan's subjective consciousness"runs through the whole process and spread to all areas of Taiwanese society, external policy has gradually become integrated into the lives of the people and attracted public attention, before becoming an important public opinion base and means for political parties to handle external relations. In the process, the KMT has become increasingly"localized"and its power to block"Taiwan independence"has diminished. The increasing homogeneity of the policies of political parties on the island under the atmosphere of"independence"is more worthy of vigilance.
