An Empirical Study on Optimizing the Business Environment for Taiwan Enterprises to Cultivate in Chinese Mainland:The Case of Zhejiang Province
Zhejiang is an important gathering place for Taiwan enterprises to invest in Chinese mainland.In 2023,Zhejiang regard optimizing business environment as"No.1 Reform Project"to achieve high-quality economic development.In order to clarify the perception and satisfaction of Taiwan enterprises toward business environment of Zhejiang province,this research builds a business environment evaluation system from market environment,government environment,law and policy environment,and human environment perspectives.The study collected questionnaires from 246 Taiwan enterprises in Zhejiang,empirically analyzed Taiwan enterprises'specific evaluation to business environment,and discussed the relationship between business environment optimization and Taiwan enterprises'willingness to cultivate in China's mainland.The results show that first,Taiwan enterprises have an overall good evaluation of business environment in Zhejiang.Specifically,Taiwan enterprises are more satisfied with government and human environment than market and law and policy environment.Second,optimizing business environment is partially related to Taiwan enterprises'willingness to cultivate in China's mainland.Optimizing the business environment cannot significantly motivate Taiwan businessmen to increase capital and expand production in Zhejiang,but it significantly enhances their digital transformation and recommendation(recommend other Taiwan compatriots to start businesses in Chinese mainland).This is possibly influenced by the multiple attributes(i.e.,Sino-American trade friction,the situation across Taiwan Strait,supply chain partners)that influence the decision to increase capital and expand production in mainland China.The research findings offer empirical support for objectively understanding the developing trend of Taiwan enterprises,making relevant policies,and attracting Taiwan enterprises to cultivate in China's mainland development.
