Active Aging Context:A Study on the Influencing Factors and Regional Differences of Physical Exer-cise among the Elderly in China
The participation of elderly people in physical exercise has a significant impact on active aging. However, previous studies have mostly focused on the micro perspective of individual needs, neglecting the macro influence of the digital economy and the devel-opment of public sports services.Using a modified Andersen Behavioral Model as the research framework, this paper examines the factors influencing the participation of elderly people in physical exercise and the regional differences, based on data from the 2018 China health and retirement longitudinal study,as well as multi-source data such as provincial-level digital economy and public sports services.By applying Logistic regression models and mediation effect analysis, the study finds that the participation rate of elderly people in physical exercise is relatively low, with a preference for low-to-moderate intensity activities. There is certain regional heter-ogeneity in the impact of the development of the digital economy and public sports services on elderly participation in physical exer-cise.Furthermore,the study reveals the potential mechanisms influencing the participation of elderly people in physical exercise in China, providing theoretical foundations and policy insights for promoting active aging and formulating health promotion policies for the elderly.
