Can Entrepreneurial Cities Affect Corporate Employment Decisions?
Entrepreneurship is one of the important means to promote employment,and as the main body of employment,enter-prise employment is the core of stable employment and employment promotion.Based on this realistic background,this paper at-tempts to use the data of Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2004 to 2020 and obtain about 130 million mi-cro-data of new start-ups by using Tian-eye search and crawler technology to measure urban entrepreneurial activity and study the impact of urban entrepreneurial activity on corporate employment and its internal mechanism.The results show that the entrepre-neurial activity in cities can significantly promote the employment of enterprises.The entrepreneurial activity in cities mainly im-proves the efficiency of enterprise resource allocation and intensifies the degree of market competition,and improves the market accessibility through new products,new business forms and new industries,so as to promote economic output and ultimately im-prove the employment level of enterprises.Further research shows that the positive effect of urban entrepreneurship on employ-ment is more significant in more Labor-intensive areas,provincial capitals,southern regions and state-owned enterprises.At the same time,the conclusion is still valid after adopting instrumental variables,fixed effects and replacing independent variables.The conclusion of the study verifies the influence and effectiveness of urban entrepreneurship level on the employment decision of enterprises from the micro-enterprise level,and also fully reflects the urgency and feasibility of promoting employment by en-trepreneurship and placing employment first in the"stability on the six fronts"and"security in the six areas"in China.
