Can the Development of the Global Digital Economy Alleviate Poverty?
This paper uses the 2013-2021 TIMG Global Digital Economy Development Index to study the impact of digital econo-my development on poverty alleviation.The study found that the development of the digital economy can help narrow the pover-ty gap in a country and reduce the proportion of poor people.Further research,after considering the level of national economic development,found that in middle-and high-income countries,the positive impact of digital economic development on narrowing the poverty gap and reducing the proportion of poor people is more significant.After considering the age structure of the country's population,it is found that the digital infrastructure index is universally beneficial in poverty reduction,and has a significant poverty reduction effect in both high-aging and low-aging countries.Mechanism research has found that digital financial inclu-sion has a significant moderating effect on poverty reduction in the digital economy.
