Does Hukou Transformation Improve Residents'Subjective Well-being?
Based on the data of CGSS2018 &2021,the paper empirically studies the impact of Hukou transformation on rural resi-dents'subjective well-being from the micro level.The results show that the acquisition of urban registered residence helps to im-prove the subjective well-being of the rural residents.The advantage in improving subjective well-being of endogenous new citi-zens is higher than that of exogenous new citizens.Hukou transformation has a significant positive impact on the well-being of endogenous new citizens in low income level or low education level,and has a significant positive impact on the well-being of exogenous new citizens in high income level or low education level.Hukou transformation can indirectly affect residents'well-be-ing through social capital,and social capital plays a greater mediating role in the improvement of well-being of endogenous new citizen than that of exogenous new citizens.
