Research Progress of Role and Mechanism of TIM-3 in Colorectal Cancer
T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3(TIM-3)is a newly discovered inhibitory immune checkpoint receptor molecule that is widely expressed on the surface of immune cells and plays a vital inhibitory role in both innate and adaptive anti-tumor immunity.TIM-3 can be expressed on the surface of tumor cells, directly facilitating the occurrence and progression of tumor.TIM-3 is closely related to the occurrence, metastasis, prognosis and treatment of colorectal cancer by acting on various cells in the tumor microenvironment and promoting the formation of tumor-suppressive microenvironment.TIM-3 can serve as a molecular target for prognosis and immunotherapy of colorectal cancer, enhancing the application value of immunotherapy in colorectal cancer. This article reviewed the expression and potential mechanism of TIM-3 in the tumor microenvironment of colorectal cancer and its correlation with the prognosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.
