The Role of Self-Service Training for Childcare Centre Supervisors:An Example from Alberta,Canada
Empowering educators with autonomy in professional development is con-sidered to be an important factor affecting the quality of training and education.Therefore,in the context of high-quality development,it is critical that childcare centre supervisors can achieve autonomy when participating in professional training.Based on the AMO theo-retical model in human resource management,self-service training for childcare centre su-pervisors in Alberta,Canada,is aimed at ensuring the training autonomy from three respec-tive dimension including Ability promotion,Motivation stimulation and Opportunity guaran-tee.The normalized training mode and flexible training contents and forms help childcare centre supervisors to improve their professional quality and independent learning ability.The self-promotion system and self-evaluation mechanism help childcare centre supervi-sors to realize the self-driving of professional development.The Alberta Early Childhood Educators Association(AECEA)has provided the standard guidance and organizational guarantee for their independent learning training.The special funding and financial man-agement create possibilities for their professional growth.The self-service training provides insightful implications for improving the enthusiasm and effectiveness of the professional training for principals of early childhood settings.
