Research on the Construction Mode of American Social Sciences and Humanities Interdisciplinary Organization under the Perspective of Theory of Social System:Taking Area Study,Women Study and Data Research as Examples
According to Niklas Luhmann's theory of social system, the functional dif-ferentiation demanded by the development of American society has prompted the American university system to engage in the interdisciplinary organization through self-reference.Along the way,the fundamental forces guiding organizational development and the universi-ty's focus on organizational development objectives have influenced the functional compre-hension and decision-making of the U.S.university system as it builds organizations for ar-ea study, women study and data research. As a result of variations in organizational under-pinnings and primary challenges to be resolved, distinct organizational construction modes have been adopted by each of the three interdisciplinary organizational categories. The area study organization has developed a functional system differentiation model based on a hori-zontal cut of the research object.Organizations of women study have opted to incorporate themselves in varying degrees into conventional disciplinary departmental organizations, which follow a hierarchical model of systemic differentiation. The data research organization has elected to adopt a segmented system differentiation model that prioritizes both organiza-tional independence and functional consistency.
