Establishing a set of effective and systematic pedagogy of teacher education(PoTE)is highly important and urgent.However,China has not yet formed the knowledge base and knowledge system for PoTE to respond to reality and practice.Antecedent interna-tional researches provide Chinese researchers the vision and basis for this aim.The current international studies on PoTE shows the following characteristics:highlighting the complexi-ty of teaching profession,forming a fundamental framework including teaching about teach-ing and learning about teaching,attaching importance of clear and explicit pedagogical rea-soning and thinking,developing multiple stance and orientations of PoTE,focusing on the relationship between theory and practice,ect.There is a knowledge system to be construct-ed involving axiology,ontology,subjectivism,methodology and practicalism of PoTE based on these concerns.Under the overall systematic perspective of teacher education practice,Chinese researchers need to reconstruct the connotation of PoTE,build diverse academic communities and promote a research route using multi-disciplinary theoretical construction and empirical exploration at the same time.This article is also a silhouette of promoting the construction of independent teacher education knowledge system and teacher education dis-cipline in China.
