The Reform of Values Education in British Schools from the Perspective of Culture Shift:Orientation and Form
Research on culture shift shows that when a country's economic growth guarantees its survival security,it will trigger a culture shift,from survival values to self-ex-pression values.In the 1970s,Britain entered the stage of culture shift,and values educa-tion in British school began to turn to"post-materialism",with three trends showed in its orientations and forms:from unification to diversification;from pursuing survival security to enhancing well-being;from cultivating passive citizens to cultivating active citizens.Ob-serving the reform of values education in British schools from the perspective of culture shift can help understand the relationship between culture shift and values education change,as well as the forming conditions of values,which can provide reference for the re-form strategies and the improvements of the effectiveness of values education in China,where the culture shift has already begun to take shape.
