Evidence-based Delivery of World-class Teacher Development System——Context,Goals and Initiatives for Building A High-Quality Teacher Education System in England
In order to cope with the real dilemma of difficult teacher recruitment and serious turnover,and improve the quality of teachers and address the persistent shortage of teachers to promote economic development,in a political atmosphere where evidence-based concepts are highly respected,DfE in England has focused on building a high-quali-ty teacher education system with the goal of building a world-class development route"based on high-quality evidence"throughout the entire career of teachers.The measures taken by the DfE mainly include:establishing and improving the framework for teacher de-velopment to lead the foundation for building a high-quality teacher education system;se-lecting and optimizing teacher education institutions to create a supply system for high-quality teacher education;optimizing the quality review mechanism for inputs and process-es to improve the quality assurance system for high-quality teacher education;increasing investment in construction funds to guide and support the construction of a high-quality teacher education system.In the process of building a high-quality teacher education sys-tem in England,the focus has been on supporting the sustainable development of teachers and based on"scientific"evidence.Although the problems and challenges encountered in the construction of a high-quality teacher education system in England indicate that plan-ning and implementation still need to be improved,the ideas and methods of building a high-quality teacher education system in England are worth considering and learning from.
