Climate Change Fiction:A Keyword in Critical Theory
In the first two decades of the 21st century,climate change fiction has risen as an important genre in the arena of world literature and gained considerable critical attention.As a significant literary phenomenon of the Anthropocene epoch,climate change fiction is dedicated to delineating and reflecting upon climate change which is infiltrating into every facet of our contemporary life,and to making a critical response to the multidimensional predicament of the Anthropocene.In doing so,it offers insights into the social,political,ethical,and emotional contours of the Anthropocene era.This paper departs from the rise of climate change fiction and the multiple contexts that underlie its development and pivots on such key issues in the study of climate change fiction as scale effect,agency,and human-nature relationship.It ends with proposing several avenues for future investigation of this genre.
