Literary Evolution and Poetic Tradition of Ancient Greek Verse Epitaphs
The verse epitaphs of ancient Greece are one of the important origins of European poetic art.As classic texts,they not only have historical significance in the form of inscriptions,but,as one of the oldest human texts in poetic form,they also hold immense literary value.This article considers the Greek poetic epitaphs from the archaic to the classical period as a holistic form of literary text.It explores their values as a poetic form,analyzing the societal structures,aesthetic consciousness,and value recognition reflected during their evolution.Furthermore,it discusses the transition of poetic epitaphs from texts originating from social functionality to ones with literary consciousness,and the various profound poetic traditions that have been forged in this process,which have had a long-lasting impact on subsequent European poetry.
