Various Discourse Models of the Subject and Their Social Roots
Subjectivity is one of the hottest topics in Chinese academia at the end of the last century.1950s has fallen, the humanistic subject has been widely questioned in the West;Foucault,Althusser, and early Lacan developed a structuralist notion of the absent subject. But then people still pay attention to the subject's affective issues,Kristeva,Deleuze, and other poststructuralists revitalized the subject of life force.Badiou,Zizek and Negri, among others, have advanced the development of subjectivity in terms of Marxist praxis. They restate the philosophy of action of St.Paul and Lenin and explain the mechanisms inherent in the process of subjectivation. This paper explores the logical inheritance of various modes of subjectivity discourse and uncovers their historical background and social roots. The paper emphasizes the class dimension of the subject of action and sees subjective practice as a way to cope with globalized geopolitical conflicts and East-West cultural contradictions.
