Perception,Memory, and Phenomenology of London:A Study of Dickens's Urban Space Narrative
London and its urban space are the key themes of Dickens's literary writing. This paper avoids the ontological spatial representation model that emphasizes imitation, which is dominant in Dickens's urban studies, and follows a new research perspective based on the concept of London phenomenology. It focuses on how Dickens's urban narrative draws the image"star cluster"of London in a multi-image matrix on the basis of highlighting the importance of the narrative subject's perceptual consciousness. From the three aspects of"perceived London,""mirror London"and"memory London,"the paper analyzes the presentation of urban space in Dickens's literary texts, and how the interaction between Dickens's life space and the urban space in his texts opens up a new way of urban space expression.
