The Postmodern Ethical Narrative in Achebe's Novel Anthills of the Savannah
Based on post-modern cultural theory, postmodern Western ethics puts forward the core concepts of recognizing differences, respecting others, bearing absolute responsibility for the Other, and building a minimum postmodern ethical community. In his novel Anthills of the Savannah,Chinua Achebe expresses the assertion of recognition of differences in parallel structures, calls for respect for the Other and assuming absolute responsibility for the Other in intertextual narration, and seeks ways to construct the postmodern ethical community with multiple narratives from different perspectives. These postmodern ethical narratives such as parallel structure, intertextual narration, and multiple narratives that Achebe uses are consistent with the postmodern ethical and moral values, rejecting the dualistic opposition between self and the Other, criticizing the modern ethics of the African Comprador bourgeoisie who unite Western capital to oppress the masses, and exclude the Other who are in a marginal position.
