Abstract
Paratextual narrative is an indispensably important theme in the study of David Lodge's biographical novels.Paratexts mainly serve in a series of narrative functions such as prolepsis,intertextual narrative,autobiographical narrative,and supplementary narrative.Paratextual narrative shapes and supplements textual meanings as well as reveals multidimensional relationships among authors,publishers,readers,and critics.In Lodge's biographical novels,paratextual narrative is a key medium for the narrator to communicate with readers about the circumstances of his literary career and sentiment.
