萨义德在《开端:意图与方法》一书中对"开端"的思考扩展到了文本,着重探讨了"开端"的内涵及其在文本孕生过程中的功能和作用."开端"作为一种意图在一个文本的生产过程中发挥作用并形成了一种有效的运转机制.文本作为承载意义的载体,通过一种暴力犯禁型的书写,开启了达成知识和艺术的努力,萨义德以"开端"的视野介入文本的发生过程,进一步探索不同形式开端的意义和形式是如何被文本有意图、有条理地生产出来.文本作为一种生产性活动,作者和文本之间的几种对立构成了文本生成的条件,而重复和独创的特性又构成了文本发生的重要动因,"开端"之于文本的持续性影响也由此发生.
Abstract
In The Beginning:Intention and Method,Said extends his consideration of"beginning"to texts,focusing on the meaning of"beginning"and its function and role in textual generation.The"beginning"as an intention plays a role in the process of a text and forms an effective mechanism of operation.The text,as a carrier of meaning,opens up the effort to reach knowledge and art through a forbidden,violent type of writing.Said intervenes in the process of textual genesis with the vision of"beginning"and further explores how the meaning and different forms of the beginning are produced intentionally and methodically by the text.As a productive activity,several oppositions between the author and the text constitute the conditions for the production of the text,while the characteristics of repetition and originality constitute important motives for the generation of the text,leading to the occurrence of the continuous influence of"beginnings"on the text.
