Viewed from a broader perspective,the translator and the source text writer more often than not would have a cross-time-and-space communication,thus constituting a collaborative relationship.In Lin Yutang's English novel Moment in Peking,Chinglish is seen throughout the whole book,which undeniably embodies an intertextual relationship between the writer's cultural stance and his depiction of China.To translate this type of language,the translator needs to communicate with the writer regarding the issues of the readers'expectation,the writer's intention,purpose of translation,and so on.Therefore,the target text will also inevitably represent the translator's individual characteristics.This paper,based on an analysis of the Chinglish employment in Moment in Peking as well as the corresponding Chinese translation,will probe into the intentions of the source text writer.On the basis of this,the paper will further observe how the translator and the writer collaborate in the Chinese translation of such use of language,hence exploring the contributing factors of the features in their collaboration.
