美国菲律宾裔作家桑托斯的小说《为何把心留在旧金山?》经由主人公大卫漫游旧金山城区"寻父"的空间实践,对离散经验与记忆碎片进行收集与拼贴,解读文化疏离与历史遗忘之创伤.此外,小说更以大卫及其社群寻觅与解码族裔文化之根的历程,再现美国菲律宾裔族群重塑彰显集体和个人经验与想象的历史文化空间的努力.
Abstract
Filipino American writer Bienvenido N.Santos collects and collages the Filipino Americans'diasporatic experiences and memory fragments in What the Hell for You Left Your Heart in San Francisco?,interpreting the trauma of cultural alienation and historical amnesia in David's spatial practice of"seeking the father"through roaming around San Francisco.The novel further represents the efforts of the Filipino community to reshape a historical-cultural space that embodies their collective/individual experiences and imagination through David and other Filipinos'searching for and decoding of the roots of ethnic culture.
