Basic Procedure and Technical Route of Problem-led Research in Comparative Education
The"problem"in the academic field comes from daily life but separate from it since it is recognized. It must be brought into a specific conceptual framework and then form a question that can be discussed and argued. With topics selected, the problem-led researches in comparative education can be divided into three types:the thematic, the regional and the comprehensive research. The research on comparative education has its own discipline rules to follow. It is necessary to avoid over-generalizing real problems from beginning,to understand the cultural characteristics of the education system studied, which requirs to put the researchin its own situation, and to take data-driven evidence-based research as a strong support. With the efforts,it may achieve the ultimate goal of critically constructing discipline knowledge and theory. The study of comparative education should be equipped with a"problem-led consciousness"in the whole process. It involves each step of the research process, including identifying and analysing problems, selecting appropriate research methods after grasping the nature of the problems and its development, preliminarily analyzing the problems, putting forward hypothesis and excavating the deep-seated reasons behind.
