A Research on the Concept and Practice of"Place-based"Rural Teacher Training
"Place-based"training provides a new vision of teacher education and responds to the needs of rural schools.Based on the situated learning theory,"place-based"rural teacher education attaches importance to the connection between teachers'professional capital and rural social situations. It is important for"place-based"rural teacher education that teacher education curriculum system and curriculum content are developed from the actual situation of rural society and schools, and that teacher candidates need to make agentic transformation in terms of their relationship with rural education. In practice,"place-based"strategies include three categories.Firstly, redesigning teacher education curriculum and making partial improvement based on the analysis of teacher candidates and rural teaching environment.Secondly,it tries to construct a community of practice to include both universities and rural communities,so that in-service rural teachers and community forces have an access to being teacher educators. This also enables establishment of a shared knowledge base between universities and communities, and provision of professional mentors and role models for teacher candidates, which motivates teacher candidates to participate in rural community actions.Thirdly,by implementing research-oriented teacher internship program,it helps teacher candidates to understand and reflect on rural education issues, and to obtain successful rural teaching experiences in the pre-service stage.
