The Underlying Logics and Policy Tools of the Professionalization of Parenting in the UK
The movement of"Professionalization of Parenting"in the UK in the past two decades is the result of the expansion of neoliberal ideology to the field of family education,which has promoted the transformation of parenting culture in terms of political agenda,sense of responsibility,discourse construction and training content.Behind it are the triple logics of politics,market and culture:the political agenda of promoting national education has expanded the external function of family education;the interests of the education market have given rise to the structure of"state-market"complicity in governance;and the group game of culture and politics has consolidated the dominant position of white middle-class values.Its policy tools include"parenting science"carrying neoliberal values and parent training programs in the form of"official funding+market supply",which are regulated by Neoliberal Governmentality.Under the discipline power of"Professionalization of Parenting",the diversified demands such as family education choice,subculture values,folk pedagogy and women's rights and interests are suppressed.The British experience has provided some enlightenment for the implementation of family education guidance services in China.
